If you are flying within the continental US, you do not need a passport, even if you are not a US citizen.

But EVERYONE, including US citizens, needs a government issued photo ID to travel (except children under 12)

As long as your are a US citizen and traveling within the US you do not need a passport. You will just have to show a gov't issued photo id (ie. drivers license) when checking in at the airport and going through the security at the airport.

You don't need a passport to travel withing the US. Be sure to take your photo ID as suggested.
We love travel so we would also suggest getting your passport... they're necessary now for flights to Mexico, Canada and the Caribbean.... and you just never know when you might decide you want to take a trip.
