Mine was actually one of intellectual assent. The emotions came later.

I was also raised in a Christian home, but I recieved Christ into my heart and followed Him from such a young age that I don't rightly recall it. I'm a drama missionary now (full time Christian work through drama) and had to do a role that required me to accurately play a non-Christian. Others who had done this role had asked His presence to leave for a couple of hours but I couldn't do that. Instead, I asked Him to scrunch up really small and not show for a little while. He did, and I felt a huge hole inside. I suddenly understood a few things exceptionally clearly. I understood just how much a part of my life and being He was (and how I'd taken Him for granted sometimes because He'd been there so long) and I also suddenly understood why people get drunk! If I had to live with that huge empty space in my soul all the time, I'd do anything I could to not feel it for awhile.

I finally read the book at age 22 with an open mind and understood it and believed it. At the time I was working at a mortuary and living there too. This made me think of death and life a little more than most people do. I was raised Catholic but never really was involved with the church. And the sermons were all in Latin so you didn't understand 1/2 of what was said and was a bunch of standing sitting and kneeling was all I remembered

I am also born to a Devoted Roman Catholic. I memorize the rosary when I was 7 years old. But like you did not really understood the meaning of it. I thought we have to lived by the golden rules ( ten commandments and leave the rest to God. I am good in front of my family but a different person with my friends. I lived and had sex with a man outside marriage without my parents knowledge. I had been in a lot of trials and difficulties in my life. It is when at this time the Lord knock in my heart to come in and as a Catholic it took me two years to invite and recieved Jesus in my heart. And I would not say that having Jesu in my life trials and difficulties have left me, but this time having the Lord Jesus in my life help me through tough times. And I know no matter what happens tommorrow I have Jesus in my heart.

"Born into a catholic home but never really understood the grace and love of Jesus until a personal experience opened my eyes and heart."
Same thing for me, but it took several "personal experiences" and a couple miracles for me to open my eyes and heart to the Word. I was as stubborn and hard-headed as they come.

Being born and raised Catholic, it is sort of disappointing the lack of doctrine I was taught. However, I have learned to recognize the presence of the Holy Spirit by certain feelings which seem to wash over me during certain times of the Mass or prayer services.
I have also had several intense events happen in my life as well. For example, my wife has been plagued with bad dreams before due to her life before we met. One night after I awaken her from several of them, I quietly said a prayer over her, asking God to remove whatever was causing the dreams. Not 5 seconds after I concluded, her body jerked violently. Shortly there after, she asked me what I had done and said that she felt like a hole had opened in her head and there was no longer any pressure in her head. I told her about the prayer but that I had done nothing. She slept like a baby after that.

I was born into a Catholic home also and, when I was old enough to know better, I thought there had to be more to this God stuff than I was hearing (and in Latin most of the time)......so I went looking for God.....
and Jesus found me.
Praise God from whom all blessings flow!!

no experience, just a decision. Felt that something was missing and went looking. Studied the bible/koran with Muslims, JW, Mormons, and a few different denominations of Christianity before I came to what I felt was a deep understanding of God. From there, I made a decision, and that was it.

I'll just say I went through a really tough time and finally tried God on a trial basis. Seriously! And he did just what he said, and I was hooked for life.
