I know his insurance rates will soar but since he's paying his own...
Will a judge suspend his license for these type of offenses?

Interesting that some assume there aren't consequences at home. Personally, I hope the judge throws the book at him. I'm a firefighter and I know what reckless drivers can do. He's paying for his own insurance, any fees, fines and traffic school. Won't be cheap!

This would be easier to answer if he was an adult. Then the answer would be to go to traffic school on ticket #1, and pay ticket #2. One point on your record, and an increase in insurance, but no suspension from the DMV. However, at 17 he will go before a juvenile traffic commissioner. He still should be able to get traffic school, but he might pull a short suspension as well.

Maybe my answer will be a little more helpful than these other ones...
I'm not in California, but for my state, typically, a license will not be suspended for two violations in 2 months. Most of the time it's anything over two in one year that results in serious consequences. However, depending on the regulations in your state, occasionally driving in excess of 20 mph above the speed limit is a major violation...which usually results in a suspension or revocation of a license. California has a point system, which typically means that a certain number of points=suspension. I hope he's learned his lesson, or will once he gets that insurance bill...two tickets on a youthful male driver is a nightmare!

Dont know how it is in Cali, but here in NY, you get your license revoked for 3 speeds in an 18 month period. They revoke it for 6 months after the 3rd one and 2 years after the 4th. Then you have to reapply for a license. Like tests and everything. They dont just suspend it.

I guess it depends on the judge and the laws of your state. If my kid got two speeding tickets,I'd take the keys away till he was 18.Next time he might kill someone or himself.Hopefully he isn't on your insurance policy.

you have your self a catch 22 situation for particular. on the single hand he needs to decelerate, on the different you reside in California. every time i've got been down there, If I wasn't going eighty mph or greater I grew to become a street danger for going a lot slower than the flow of site visitors. Kinda damned in case you do, damned in case you do no longer sorta ingredient. so some distance as criminal ramifications, pay the fines. verify along with your DMV and discover out what proportion tickets a individual can get carry of in a given year till now the state suspends his license.

Well YOUR son needs discipline from HIS parents.

My son would be more concerned about what I was going to do than with the courts.

EDIT---

My apologies...some people that come on here ARE more worried about what the courts will do.

Personally...his driving days would be over...but it looks like you are taking care of that.

I apologize!

Sure hope so. Now, the next question is: What actions have you taken? Do you have a good funeral policy?
