In standard Italian is " Vorrei un catalogo, per favore"
The sentence 'Posso avere un catalogo per piacere ?' is not exactly translating yr post since in English is 'May I have a catalog, please ?'.It's also in the interrogative form while you didn't made a question but just an assertion-
Besides of that, in current Italian it would better saying
'Per piacere (or per favore),posso avere un catalogo ?' but mine it's the correct translation ref.yr Q.
I'm not a student but I'm Italian native.

Posso avere un catalogo per piacere.

I edited my answer from Vorrei ?- i would like to Posso avere? - May I have ? earlier. Posso avere sounds more polite and courteous in italian, but hey its not a direct translation which you what you asked for. But direct translations are not always the best.
