my new kitty 3.5 month old eats my adult 1.5 year old cat's kibbles. They are both the same brand except one is for kitties, the other is for adults. I know that kittens have different nutrition requirements, but he just doesn't seem to like his, he likes hers better.

Kittens do not need any nutrients different from an adult cat. And those nutrients are very specic - the food should be 60% wholesome meat protein - no by-product meat and no cheap filler like corn making up 2/3 of the food.

So when you read the food label it should have the first two ingredients meat protein and the third will be a filler if it is dry food.
Eagle Pack, Natural Balance, Solid Gold, Felidae, Blue, CA Natural, By Nature Organic meet these criteria. So use one of those foods and both the kitten and adult cat will be well nourished and have a healthy diet. That's a lot of choices and you should also use more than one brand so that the cats have protein sources such as duck, turkey and lamb and don't eat only chicken all their lives.

There is no grocery store food that meets those criteria. Science Diet doesn't either.

Natural Balance has a good line of canned food with quality protein. I use that brand and Wellness and Lick Your Chops. Sometimes Avoderm.

you are able to free feed kittens for variety of 5 months on fantastic kitten dry nutrition. and supplies you a meal of canned kitten nutrition. IMO Meow mixture is the more severe nutrition on the marketplace (the dry) - i do not study about the can, yet determine if the dry is undesirable, the canned is likewise undesirable. i might want to get some Royal Canin toddler Cat dry (small products) and interior the canned get Max Cat, wellbeing, organic stability and Iams - all interior the kitten version. Kittens tummies are not to any extent further tremendous, so that they received't eat lots - the three oz.kitten can might want to correctly be used for 2 nutrition (basically warmth the last up with warm water and stir previously serving).

Look at you older kitty's food-- if it says something like"suitable for all life stages" you kitten will be fine. If it says "for mature (or adult) cats only" it might be better to put them both on kitten food for a while. Good Luck!!

My kitten ate adult canned cat food and adult dry kibble too. He is 1 yr old now and he is huge (not fat, just big). I think your kitty will be fine.

Yes, the only thing store bought kitten food really has that is different is more fat. Canned food is not bad for kittens, either.

No, you need to feed them separately. The kitten needs the nutrition in kitten food.

I'm actually worried about your older cat. When your older cat eats kitten food he gets too much of what he doesn't need such as fat, nutrients etc.. that your kitten needs. I also heard that milk is bad for cats.

I've heared that you should feed your kitten kitten chow for their 1st year of life. It's a hard call if the kitten isn't eating its food, though. I guess it's better that he/she is eating SOMETHING....even if it's not kitten food....

My vet says yes in a grimacing way...but it's not really good for them considering it doesn't have to nutrients that a small kitten needs.
