What do you do about it? Stop giving?

Is this question directed towards a man in your life?
If so, I know where you're coming from.
Sometimes I feel more like my fiance's mother than the woman he is going to marry.
While he's at work, I do his laundry, cook and clean.
I've stopped to wonder if I am doing too much but I have realized it's my duty, just as it's his duty to work and support me.
Men have different views and certainly different obligations.
If you feel you aren't getting anything back, make a suggestion as to what you would like him to do in order for you to feel more appreciated.
Men are simple minded, they often times down know what's on our mind until we bring it to their attention.
You should never stop giving once you have started because giving is an act of love and kindness and you wouldn't want people to think you no longer care about them and/or love them.
If this is about children or friends, the same applies, seeing as how all of us are capable of taking people and things for granted.
Simply ask to be treated with more appreciation.
"Ask and you shall receive" is where I'm getting with this.
Good question and good luck.

Maybe, but I don't feel that way for long. I don't agree with the premise. If I'm giving to people that are taking advantage of me, then it's my responsibility to stop giving in that situation. On the other hand, I don't like the thought of giving to people to get something back. How do I know what I'm giving is something they really want anyway? I think people should take care of themselves and try to enjoy giving and receiving gifts when they come along.

I feel the same way. You just keep giving and giving and people seem to take it for granted.

Maybe I/we need to find people out there who know how to give back, or at least appreciate it.

All the time, but giving makes me happy to be in one of God's children. And He will give back ten times the amount you give inn some way some how. Just trust in Him.

No, please...keep giving. I'd like some of that myself!

Im guessing the significant other puts you second, and sometimes third....

He's probably got no career prospects and you're second guessing his potential on getting by with his "quick wit" and childish good looks.

Dump him now ma'lady...before it's too late and you have a litter of kids with him!...

And you're hot.

Damn.

Yeah, always. It's give give give... but in the end.... nothing is given to me. I feel like giving up, but I never do because then I would feel selfish.

I feel as if i'm constantly putting people infront of me and putting others feelings infront of my feelings.

I think there is a time where you have to stop and say, i need this for me...... i'm going to put myself infront for once.

Don't stop giving though, it makes you a good person! Give love, give laughs, give smiles, give hugs, give warmth.

you don't find to many people like that anymore. but never stop giving but choose what you do... with myself at times it can feel over whelming, but that's who i am. and i think that's who your are. Never change who you are, just know when to take time for yourself, and know when it time to stand back and let other people help as well. High five to you!!!

Yes all the time. What helps me is asking for some respect, if it's not given I don't old a grudge I just don't do out of my way speak with that person. Be strong and ask to be respected, if they don't respect you there not your friend, you can't make anybody love you.
