wire or rope until it breaks. There is a point right before it breaks at the twist and it is called something but I cannot think of it. I want to say Super something or Heli something. Someone please help, it is driving me nuts......

the scientific term for twisting motion is called TORSION. When you twist like a steel bar that attached to something is called Torque. Sometimes I say ewww that guy torques me; which means eww that guy twist my underwear in a knot, meaning he has pissed you off. the word is Torsion.

I don't know of any terms like you mention, but torsional strength is the term that pretty much covers the torque force necessary to cause failure - an alternate term is the modulus of rupture.
Just don't allow it to drive you crazy........
