You have the situation reversed the Iranians are trying to create nuclear weapons so they can be used against the US. We have been at unofficial war with Iran since the 1970s. They are currently the worst of the US foes & could easily bring terrorist hell to the US.
After WW2 the US & the Allies were feeling guilty of the horrors of the Holocaust. In response they created the nation of Israel. The Arabs of the Middle East had kicked the Jews out of the region almost 2,000 years ago. With the fall of the Roman Empire the Jews were chased into Europe. Some 400 years after the bible was first written the Profit Mohammad founded Islam. However, after his death the civil war between the Sunnis & the Shiites began, although the sects can’t even agree on when that actually happened. Every since that point it has taken strong rulership to stop the civil war from destroying a region. When the rule turned nonsecular then the ruler usually became a harsh & brutal dictator like Sadam Hussian. The Shaw of Iran was one such ruler who controlled Iran, his secret police were famous for being more brutal than the KGB.
After the foundation of Israel she had to fight hard for her very life. But, thanks to some US support & some war reparations that were invested in weapons, so Israel fought back. Israel defeated Egypt in the Six Day war & turned around & defeated Syria next. So no one else in the region wanted to try & take them on. The Palestinians weren’t even a nation they were just a displaced people (like the Jews were for a large portion of their history). They didn’t have troops or any organized military that could take on Israel. So they resisted with irregulars that turned into terrorists. This would have been a minor problem if vast oil reserves weren’t discovered in the region. These oil reserves were first exploited by the former Allies of WW2 & then the facilities were nationalized by the Middle Eastern nations making them rich & able to donate a lot to the Palestinians giving them the equipment & money they needed to pursue their war.
Meanwhile the Soviet Union refused to return any of the l& that they took from Germany & Japan. They also supported & inspired Mao in China, & the Communists took over. The Communists threatened to take over the entire world & to destroy the civilization of the West. In defense the Western Nations adopted a policy to curb Communism. When the Soviet Union started supporting North Korea, China, Iraq & Syria the Western Nations got worried. Communism was expanding so there was no choice but to help other nations in the region before they fell to the communists. Israel was an US ally, but the people of the region hated them so supporting them was unpopular. The US couldn’t make head way with the other countries, because of their support for Israel, except for Iran & the Shaw of Iran. So the Iranian people saw the US as the force supporting & supplying the oppressive government.
The Shaw of Iran got sick & fled his nation to the US leaving noting behind. His government fell & before it descended in chaos a religious rule was established, the same rule that is in effect today. The President of Iran rules with the permission of the religious council of Inmans in the holy city of Quom. The Palestinians feel the same way & both parties consider the US to be a dangerous enemy & a puppet of Israel. This explains all the hatred they have for the US.
The problem is that Iran is developing nuclear weapons. When refining nuclear fuel to use for power plants it isn’t necessary to use centrifuges to further refine it. However, it is critical when trying to create a weapon & that is the only time you need to use centrifuges. The last time the Iranians tried to do this the Israelis bombed their plant out of existence. So their new plant is hardened & buried deep underground.
It is crystal clear that Iran is developing Nuclear Weapons & has no desire to build nuclear power plants (they haven’t even begun construction of one yet). When they get those weapons they will want them used against their greatest foes; Israel & the US. Any nation that uses nuclear weapons in combat would be the enemy of the entire world, even if they were the nation that was attacked first. So Iran is not stupid enough to use the weapons themselves. Instead they will “sell” them to groups like the Hezbollah & Al Qaeda, who are probably already developing plans on how to use them.
We are not at war with the Shiites or the Sunni, we are merely stuck in the middle of a civil war that has been going on for 1,400 years. If they haven’t been able to settle their dispute in all that time then the US has no chance to do it in the few years we have been trying to help Iran. It took a brutal dictator like Saddam or a repressive religious rule like the Taliban. Without that I fear that once we leave Iraq it’s government will either become horribly brutal or it will fall to a religious rule. The only other choice is that the nation descends into total chaos & splits itself into warring factions. The result of any of those possibilities is that the Iraqi people will only hate us as much as the Iranians do.
George Bush Senior was in charge of the CIA before becoming President. He knew that if he displaced the Iraqi government that the US would be locked in the middle of the Shiite & Sunni civil war. But, George W. Bush has never asked his father for any advice. He didn’t really want to go to war in Iraq, or he would have found a way to do it earlier. Instead it was Dick Cheney who wanted to invade Iraq again. He wanted to do this as part of a power play against the head of the CIA, George Tennant. Tennant was a Democrat held over from the Carter Administration & Dick Cheney & his friend Donald Rusmfeld hated his influence & the fact that President Ford liked him, & kept him in the Job. When President Clinton brought Tennat back into office he remained there even when George W. was elected. Tennat caught the attention of George W. so he was able to stay in office. That’s when Cheney & Rusmfled started plotting against him.
One facet of this war was the outing of Victoria Plame as a CIA agent by “Scooter” Libby. Another facet was Cheney’s desire to finish Bush Senior’s war. He saw his chance after the attacks of 9/11/2001. He gathered some information, but George W. Bush said, “Close, but not good enough.” When the Germans found an Iraqi that was an Egyptian prisoner claimed that Saddam Hussian had WMDs Cheney had his chance. Ignoring the well known fact that the Egyptians use torture & despite the statement by the Germans that they could not verify this intelligence Cheney ran with it. The CIA was blamed for failing to predict the attacks of 9/11/2001 (even though they did send out a warning). So this gave Cheney a chance to break George Tennat, head of the CIA. On Cheney’s orders he had “Scooter” Libby prepare Secretary of Defense Colin Powel’s speech to the UN. This was unprecedented, the chief of staff for the Vice President NEVER wrote a speech for the Secretary of Defense. In all the years of our nation the Vice President rarely even enacted with the Secretary of Defense. I think that once Colin Powel found out he had been used to make the excuse for war with Iraq & once Connie Rice started taking over his office he resigned from the Bush Administration.

Read this:
A day earlier, the president acknowledged skepticism concerning U.S. intelligence about Iran, because Washington was wrong in accusing Iraq of harboring weapons of mass destruction before the U.S.-led invasion in 2003. "I'm like a lot of Americans that say, 'Well, if it wasn't right in Iraq, how do you know it's right in Iran,'" the president said.
No we dont have a side in the Middle East . The Saudies are Sunnies, and we are somewhat allies with them, Do some research
We are trying to avoid a war reject,
Wonder how many thumbs down from the Extreme Lefts and Rights on this one?

If you believe in the Biblical armageddon and that Bush is only speeding things up to the end of the world, I would think that you'd be wanting to THANK him for such a favor for giving you the opportunity to meet God sooner.
How many wars can he make in the less than 2 years he has left in office? Would it matter? Any skirmish we're in by the time he leaves, I think whoever's left in charge would immediately start pulling out.

Joe Wilson, Hans Blix, and history have shown us that Bush was, at the very least, incorrect in his assumption that Saddam had imported Nigerian yellowcake and had stockpiles of WMDs. History has shown us that he ignored the advice of his generals in going into war with Iraq, and that he continues to fire generals who do not agree with him.
With this track record, I wouldn't trust him with starting any new military adventures. And if he decides to intervene militarily in Iran without Congressional approval, he is likely looking at the start of impeachment proceedings by the Hon. John Conyers of Michigan. He stated this on the Stephanie Miller show.

Nobody will ever believe Bush again. He started the war on false pretenses and was originally put in office unconstitutionally and has tried to use our Constitution as his personal toilet paper ever since he has been in office. He should be impeached...but that's another topic

well judging by the approval ratings of Bush, half of America is still buying into his antics. I don't get it, complain for years and give him a second term. Good work America
