I have naturally curly hair and want to style it straight. Any recommendations on what to use for this? My hair dresser uses a curling iron, but it takes too long. Is anything faster?

It depends on how curly your hair is. I have curly hair and theres really no "quickie" solution, do it too fast and you end up with straight but really frizzy hair. I use aveda "hang out" cream which is a great cream straightener then i blow dry my hair with a round brush concentrating on the front and the underneath (because its gets the frizziest) till its nearly dry and straight which takes about 5 minutes. Then i blow dry the rest of my hair till its dry not worrying about whether its straight or not but definitely dry. Then I go over it with a hot flat iron. The ceramic or gold ones are the best ones as they get the hottest. Then I top it off with some frizzease and a little more straightener. The whole thing takes about 20 minutes and my hair is down to about bra line. :) Good luck!

Well, if you blow-dry your hair after taking a shower, it'll be somewhat straight. Using a straightening iron is a cheap and very effective way to make your hair straight, although it takes some time in the morning to do it. Most people opt for the hair straightener, but if you want something long-term, you can get your hair chemically straightened at a salon [[permanent until your hair grows out, then you have to get the roots straightened]], or try the new Japanese hair straightening, which is also permanent. Try googling these terms if you need more information. =]

Use a straightening gel while your hair is still damp, then blowdry it straight. The easiest way to do this is to flip it upside-down and blowdry from underneath with a flat paddle brush. Afterwards, run a straightener on it to make it shiny and hold the style. I do this a few times a week - it's a little time consuming (about 30 minutes) but it lasts all day and looks really cute.

Use a ceramic straightener with some type of heat protection serum or you can buy an at home hair straighting kit but you may still have to use the iron to get it really straight.

I know right how you feel. There is one thing.. Its called CHI. Japanese hair straightener. it's all chemical. Well, not really. They do have hairdryers, and curling irons, and stuff like that. But to get a long term transition from curly to straight, that is the method to go.
I won't do it myself, because I don't like too many chemicals in my hair. I don't use hairspray, don't color it, nothing. But, to each their own. The only reason I know this, my mother-in-law is a hair stylist.

I have naturally curly hair too, take it from someone who's had their hair FRIED!!! Use a hot iron do NOT use chemicals they ruin your hair and just like a perm new curls grow out so each time 6wks. or so you need to do it again and again you fry your pretty curls. EMBRACE YOUR BEAUTIFUL CURLS!!! I finally did and I get nothing but compliments about my hair!

Yes, very expensive solutions. Ironing all day every day, like the girls I know. Did you know that big hair is back, the straight thing has evolved again about 2 years ago...

A ceramic straightener will work well. You can even get wet-to-straight so you can get straight outta the shower and be straight in a few minutes.
