Yes, you do not need to use toothpaste, however ask your dentist if you should be brushing that often. When we are adults we have to be careful not to brush too often (hard on the enamel).

A few years ago I rang around to a number of dentists and asked the very same question.
The answer is you do not need toothpaste and that is is the action of the toothbrush that actually does all the work.
Seeing that we swallow accidently some paste we have to be aware of what we could be consuming.
Forget the toothpaste and save some money as well as ingesting any undesirables like tin (inner side of container)for example.

Whats wrong with bringing toothpaste to work? Everybody, well most everybody brush their teeth at my work, after coffee and lunch, and everyone has Toothpaste. Come on, it is such a tiny tube. The 50 cents size or the freebies giveaways at the airlines.
If really you are resistant to lugging this tiny tube of toothpaste, use soap. It may taste icky but at least it is more sanitary.

RICHARD,
IT DOES NOT MATTER IF YOU EVEN BRUSH WITH CHICKEN SOUP. THE KEY IS TO REMOVE SOFT PLAQUE BY BRUSHING.
I MUST COMMEND YOU FOR WANTING TO BRUSH AFTER A SNACK -- JUST USE PLAIN WATER AND YOU'LL BE FINE.
ps. you can never hurt enmel this way, it's as hard as glass.

You could keep a small bottle of mouth wash in your desk. When you brush, rinse with a small amount of mouth wash first and then brush it around your mouth.

It is fine what you are doing but if you added salt to the tooth brush it will help your gums when you brush

It seems like that would be pretty abrasive. Why not buy some chewing gum with Xylitol in it to chew after lunch? I think that Trident makes it.

You couldn't just keep a tube at your desk or something. I think not using it defeats the purpose.
