Windows 2003 Server is not shutting down?

If you are running exchange on windows 2003 don't hard boot it because you can cause damage to the raid or some other failure give it time it will you have to remember that servers store data and they have to clear cache and check the network to make sure no users data will be lost or to make sure that users computer is logged off.
