Here is one statement that even the religious must agree with:
They can't all be right, but they *can* all be wrong!
And if one god is better than many gods, why not take the next step?
To address your question directly, the existence of so much evil in the world only really proves that there is no *benevolent* god in charge; there could still be one but it would be the biggest douche in the universe, as the South Park gang would say.

Actually the simple answer to your question is that the combined beliefs in god/gods proves that there is a surpeme being or consiousness.
You know what they say about no smoke without a fire?
Not all ancient religions were multi-deity worshipping... But then even most mono-deity religions nowadays draw from earlier religions upon which they are founded.
Would the world be better without belief in God(s)? Hmmm.... I believe not- because in order to believe in good and evil we have to have a benchmark to judge by. "Better" is not possible without "worse" and the balance is what makes me believe that there is a divine concept/consciousness at work.
Besides I find it very hard to wake up on a gorgeous day and watch the sunshine on the trees outside my window and believe that being without that divine spark which I believe to be responsible for the wonders of life, would be MUCH worse than dealing with some pigeon-holing in the name of religion. Religion is part of our lives and it is there for a good reason.
And there are really few interpretations when you boil it all down- god/good is always shown in human form or taking human characteristics. Seems we do all agree on most things on which the many religions are based.

Actually, many religions have one god, but I wouldn't say most.
Mormons believe there are many Gods, they only worship one.
Hindus, Neo Pagans, lots have many Gods.
Even the idea of Christianity has three aspects of God, that are distinct, yet one. Some call this three. The Jews had different names for God that showed respect for certain aspects of God. It is a short step from there to having a different God for each aspect of something greater.
A diversity in understanding does not prove that there is nothing to be understood.

No. The fact that there are so many religions--& in fact not a single culture in the world without some kind of religious belief--proves that there most definately must be a God!!

To me, it proves that there are many perspectives in this world. It says more about us than God or Gods.
By the way, I am polytheist precisely because I believe just one God can't account for all the variety in this world (not to mention the universe beyond us.)

I agree religion has caused alot of strife and trouble and why, they all believe in the same thing basically or they are the same but go under a different name. I have much respect for native religions because they are true not something created and forced upon people. People should love their own heritage not take on someone else's.

No, it confirms that there is a God. Some have been misled about who God is and have fallen into cult like beliefs and worshiping, but the fact that there are so many that do believe in a god only confirms that there is a God.

HITAN ( Democracy in Heaven )
--goal is to overthrow the CREATOR and install democracy in Heaven.
There are many GODS, each angel that left the heavens with LUCIFER created the many faith and ideas out in the world today.
Pray to the CREATOR for all he made but pick a GOD that you want to govern over you.
The CREATOR does not deserve the title and position of GOD

Muslims are in no way pleased with something, for this reason we in no way think of of ourselves as stronger to the folk of alternative religions. Yeah we do be attentive to that our faith is right, basically like how any christain, jew etc. thinks that their faith is the suited one. however the real question is, why do human beings have a bad theory of muslims and islam?

To put it more simply, everyone would be on the
same page all over the world. Wouldn't God want just one
religion?
