Knowledge is awareness and power; belief is ignorance and impotence.
For all we know, the fat, dumb and happy believers are already being manipulated by the powerful. Ever hear of Karl Rove? Are you believers even faintly aware that you are merely useful to the republicans as vote-monkeys, and that behind the scenes they call you "the nuts"?
Tim M. proves my point. He thinks there is certainty in science, when actually facts are always contingent and subject to new data. It's religious beliefs which claim to be held with certainty! Scientists are the humble ones, not the believers.

Science is mostly theories. You call this knowledge?
I take it into consideration however it all leads to faith.
P.S.- science is always evolving because there is no "certainty" in that either. That's why a "proven" fact can be changed later on in the future because it gets proven or improved with or by something else. So the truth you once KNEW becomes a false statement or at the most an incomplete one.

There is more than one "way of knowing."
You may know with scientific certainty (which is anything but certain).
You may know emotively; how do you "know" that your mother loves you? really? Prove it. Go on, prove it to a scientific certainty. That's what I thought, you know it but can't prove it: it's emotive.
You may know intuitively. There are some things that you simply cannot NOT know. You know for certain that it's wrong to steal. You know it's wrong to murder. You know that it's right to treat others fairly. how do you know these things? No one had to teach you these things; they are programmed into your DNA.
The Bible actually speaks of both "believing" and "knowing."
John 20:31
but these have been written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing you may have life in His name.
1 John 5:13
These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life.
Christianity never requires you to check your brain at the church door. In fact, search the Scriptures to see if these things are not so.
Acts 17:11
Now these were more noble-minded than those in Thessalonica, for they received the word with great eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see whether these things were so.

Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see. Hebrews 11:1
The wind blows wherever it wants. Just as you can hear the wind but can’t tell where it comes from or where it is going, so you can’t explain how people are born of the Spirit. John 3:8

I believe and I KNOW--that is what is so awesome about God! It is something that one cannot understand until they experience the love of Christ and forgiveness- once they humble themselves in sight of the Lord and repent---it is then you not only BELIEVE, but you KNOW that the truth is indeed Jesus Christ! And that salvation is only through Him- and that we were made to worship the Lord and serve Him, knowing what an awesome and mighty God we have! A God of love and a God of mercy and a God of Justice! He is perfect- and only God can lift the veil from someone's eyes.....And I hope and pray you will experience this someday because there is nothing more important.

Some people are better off ignorant XD They're less dangerous to us then. Hey, if some people have to be given a handbook on how to play nice with other people...
...I would rather they read it and believe it than be let loose to unleash hell on the rest of us "immoral sinners".
I, on the other hand, like to know. It keeps me ahead of the game >.>
