I left a ques last week asking for advice regarding my cousin being a victim of rape..it took place 6 months ago and she didnt say anythin untill last week because of his threats. i told her to go the police and repor tthis..she was in there for 2 hours.they took the report ..turned out they even had a mugshot of the guy. they asked her if she still have the clothes but she threw em away..other than that there is no evidence.. the detective has said the first thing that needed to be done was for her to see a therapist cuz of her condition...she even try to kill her self..and once shes better .they could put this guy away..the detective said the only way to do this is that my cousin will call him again and ask him y he did that...and if he says something like " he wont do it again" or " he was sorry" that is a confession and enough to arrest him.. i just want to know if there is any other way to prosicute this man..obivously he commited this crime 6 moths ago but how do we prove it?

guys i feel bad that nothing could be done about this man......she is getin counseling but all she says is that she wants this man in jail...they had a mug shot of him from his prior arrest...the detective promised her that she would put this guy away...she just wants her to get better so they could get him to confess on the phone.....i dont know much about law but i do know that u need evidence to convict someone but even if we could prosecute this guy and he ends up takin a plea bargain that still is punishment.............i dont know if the phone conversation would be enough probable cause for an arrest warrant......again guys this isnt about moneyto her just justification... i just hope this man does get whats coming for him and hope u guys just pray...thank u all for takin ur time to respond ..it shows that there are compassionate people out there.......thank u

If the cops are suggesting thats how u do it then listen to them, they know what they r doing and if there was any other safe way to do it they would have told u. Just dont get ur hopes up, if it happened that long ago and she never told anyone and there is no physical evidence putting him away will be extremely hard.

Your cousin threw the "proof" away when she tossed the clothing and didn't go for an exam...forensics and DNA are the things that get people convicted. Unfortunately it may take him raping someone else before he is finally caught

First of all,i know what she is going through (i was raped more then once) she should go ahead and make the call, she's lucky she CAN do that!!!

It'll be hard,b by her side!! I think the easyist way is by calling! PUT THAT BASTARD IN JAIL!!!

( i wish i could have,it is the WORST thing a women could go through in her life)

Hope everything goes well!!

Unfortunately that's hard to prove. Get your friend into rape counseling soon. That SOB will probably commit the offense again with someone else, hopefully they'll get him then. Don't let her go out there like bait, he may hurt her again. I pray she heals soon, but without counseling it's hard.

As it stands now...nope there is no way. She threw out the only evidence that would tie him to the crime and she didn't report it for 6 months.

she should follow up with what the detective asks. yes she will need rape counseling. its gonna be harder to prove though because you need evidence. thats why when you get raped you have to get a rape kit. if they have a mugshot of him then im sure he'll get in some sort of trouble
