What is the K-1 visa process? What are the forms and documents that you need to submit? What happens after your petition is approved, as far as the extra documents you need to send to the foreign consulate before the interview? What is the interview like?

I want to know exactly what to do so that no delays or problems will occur. Also what are the potential issues that cause delays/denials? And if that does happen, can you reapply? Additionally, what is the time frame for this whole process?

Thanks!

You need to be a US citizen. A Green Card holder cannot be the sponsor of a K-1 visa. It will take between 6 months and 1 year.

The other guy pretty much covered the rest. You need proof that you've met each other in person during the past two years. You need to prove an ongoing relationship. This can be done with used plane tickets showing travel, letters (envelopes included), pictures, phone bills showing calls and anything else you can think of.

My Fiancee is going through the process now and her interview in April. The first form you need is I-129f, you will also need G-325 for both you and your fiance(e) for the background information. You should meet each other in person too.

Evidences you need to show a relationship:
emails
Letters
phone bills show you call each other.

after you get approve you need proof of support (I-134)
w-2
tax forms
bank statements
all the form are on www.uscis.gov
Time frame for me and fiancee was after file the form a week for the regional area process center and then another week with the National Visa Center. This depend on your background and how many are apply at the time is how fast it get through. For the interview once you comfim with the embassy the interview 10-12 weeks away.

Valtemere covered the question quite nicely , however i would like to add that it will not take 10 weeks.
My fiance(now husband)and i started the K-1 visa process in July 2005, Only in February 2006 did i get scheduled for my appointment for visa. Then i still had to wait 3 more months to actually get my passport sent back to me so i could leave.
Further more i have since applied (august 2006 )for my perminant residence visa I-485 and i am still waiting for it. So i hope you are patient.
Let me also state that i sent in all the right documentation(right from the beginning), and have recieved "notices " that my case is being processed. .....

The answers above are quite accurate. But I best advise you to contact the embassy or visit the website about it. Read it thoroughly and reread it so that you know what to expect. I cannot give you any hint as to dates or time periods because all of that is usually based on the embassy processing and number of people in line like yourself. Unlike your situation, I applied for my husband's I-130 for immigration visa (Permanent residency was immediately granted). So therefore I am not familiar with the process of becoming LPR. But my best advice for you is to keep your information updated and accurate. Be VERY patient. Call continuously on a routine basis to inquire about the status of your case. Also your fiancee or citizen spouse should call regularly on your behalf to keep them aware that you have an ongoing relationship as well as that they are anxious for you to come. Keep all evidence of relationship recorded and organized. Have a diary of dates and times that you have spoken with uscis agents and note the reason for the call for future reference. Also keep a copy of anything you have sent or faxed them. Be honest and everything should be fine. Cases are usually denied because required paperwork has not been completed, certain expectations are not met (for example not enough evidence of a relationship, both individuals supplied different information, not enough financial support etc), or they have a valid reason to believe that you are providing false information. I don't believe that anyone can reapply. Delays can be caused from questionable documentation or anything that requires further investigation in order to supply evidence needed. My husbands case was delayed a while longer because some of his documents were confusing and took time to verify through the courts. They did not notify us of this until we visited the embassy in person and when we were there it was cleared up in the same day and within three weeks he received his final packet and got approved. Don't worry yourself overly. Be honest, keep good records, as well as you MUST have a good relationship with your fiancee and communicate with eachother regularly. It will be difficult and almost seem impossible at times but if you stick together through it, you should be fine. Best of luck to you.
