I have the worst case of Neuralgia, and I've never felt pain like it before in my life... I can't even sleep with it.. I've taken 2 paracetemol and an Ibuprofen. Is there anything else that can help to relieve my pain? Bearing in mind is 2.30 in the morning and the shops and chemists are still closed!
Thanks

O.K. No fun at all. Sorted. Here is one you didn't know: part of the pain is coming from the heat of your cheek against the tooth, so dip a small pad of paper toweling or even a paper napkin into some Listerine or mouthwash and put it in between your cheek and the sore tooth. That will cool the area down and make the inflammation less painful. Get the inside of your mouth away from the sore tooth, in other words. I guarantee this will help. And you could probably take another Ibuprofen and not be any the worse for it. My dentist once told me you can take up to three and be okay. I am so sorry you have to go through this one - do you know how many people reading all this have been through it, too? And have you noticed? It usually never happens mid-week. It always happens on a weekend, on a Friday afternoon at 4:30 P.M. when your dentist is closing his office for the weekend, usually a holiday weekend that opens on next Tuesday - so you are very fortunate you can probably make a phone call tomorrow morning and get it fixed, if you can just endure the rest of this crazy night you are putting in. I have been through this one more than six times in my life so I can relate to how you must be feeling right about now. Get the heat of the inside of your mouth away from that tooth somehow and you will breath easier, guaranteed. Best to you always from C.

This is probably too late to be of use to you but I'll tell you anyway. Its one of my mum's Old Wives Tales that actually works. Put about a pound of salt into a linen napkin or a clean tea towel. Wrao the salt up and put the tea towel in the microwave. Heat for about a minute (check that its not too hot) then hold the compress against where you have the pain. I don't know why but it works. Re-heat the compress as often as you need.

Very gentle hands-on work as done by a craniosacral therapist or a cranial osteopath will usually fix neuralgia.
