Find something you can do to get your mind off things and relieve your stress.

Play a video game where you can kill things and don't care about progress or surviving.

Try reading a book you enjoy and that you know how it ends, so you can put it down easily once you get sleepy.

Believe it or not, maturbation is an option. I believe you are a male, and when a man achieves orgasm, there is a hormone released in the blood that helps relax him.

You can take Tylenol PM, but I'd just take the generic Benadryl you can buy in stores. It's the ingredient in the Tylenol PM that makes you drowsy. Just know that it is possible you may have a slight hangover like effect in the morning if you don't get enough sleep.

Whatever it is, stop dwelling on whatever has you keyed up. Find something to take your mind off it, and good luck behind the wheel!

There are many herbal supplements you can take. But, first you need to do something to relax you. Try a warm bath or yoga.

Ok, over the counter supplements that work are, Valerian Root, Melatonin, Passion Flower Tea. If this doesn't help try Unisom. That helps alot. But, try to figure out what is stressing you out. Stress is a big trigger that will NOT let you get some rest.

Try not to focus on not sleeping. If you can't sleep withing 15 minutes laying in bed, get up and read, watch something really boring on tv, do some Yoga. If you have TV in your bedroom do not watch it in there. Get up and go somewhere else in your place.

My sleep therapist recommended that. I have had insomnia since I was a kid. I started with the herbal supplements and that helped. So give it a try, try the bath, and yoga. Try not to get angry that you can't get some sleep. Try to focus on something else.

Hope this helps.

Have a w***.
Seriously though, it's likely that the anxiety about having to get up is exacerbating the situation, tell yourself that you'll be OK if you do the driving lesson on no sleep (which you will) and you'll be a lot more chilled out about it and therefore more likely to sleep. Works for me when I can't sleep and I've got a big day ahead of me.

Oh, my goodness gracious! You need to be forced to watch an old black and white horror movie to make you laugh and get bored and sleepy all at the same time. I have a Godzilla movie here made in the sixties and I guarantee (here, I am putting it into the VCR...) you will not last more than eight minutes into it, and I am pushing start.... and the film is beginning to show the opening credits, and.... well, I am going over and sitting down... and my eyes are getting sleepy... the film is s.t.a.r.t.i.n.g........ but I c-a-n't se-e-m..... to... keep them... o p e n, ZZZZZZzzzzzzz.....

take a shower as hot as you can stand it. when you get out get nice and comfortable in you're bed. turn on a light that's not too bright and that you can turn off without having to get out of your bed. grab a book and read until you can't keep your eyes open any longer. also if you have a portable CD player, put in a CD with calming/relaxing music and set the headphones next to your pillow but turn it up loud enough that you can hear it, or turn the sleep timer on your radio. that way you can leave it on as you go to sleep and it will turn itself off preventing the noise from waking you up before your alarm. this works for me, hope it helps you.

What I usually do when I can't sleep would be reading a book and thinking positive thoughts. Then I put on some calm music and lay down.

Try some WARM milk with honey. It usually helps. Also reading a boring book helps. So after couple of pages you can feel asleep. For me it is my World History text book.

My good friend has sleeping problems and the things that she says works the best for her are eating turkey, warm milk, or anything filling really and sometimes excersizing. She says after she excersizes a lot she feels really tired and falls asleep. I hope that helped. :-D

Make sure it's dark, lay down in your bed, and tell yourself that you're going to 'turn it off.' You are going to put aside your worries until tomorrow, and then you can pick up where you left off. This actually helps me. Good luck!
