my friend got her lip pierced, the piercer said to use Bactine, that only made it worse (its not for puncture wounds). after eating\drinking anything rinse with listerine to kill the germs in your mouth. to clean it use a salt water solution with a qtip. i wouldnt recommend using peroxide\alcohol.

well first off with any piercing around the mouth you need to swish with the brown listerine after you eat, drink, smoke, kiss, anything. trusts me it tastes nasty.second make sure that you keep moving it so it doesn't close up and attach to the piercing. don't eat anything extremely spicy. no beer. liquer is fine but nothing containing yeast(i.e. yogurt, beer, etc.). this has to go on for at least two weeks if it's not perfectly healed by then, then you have an infection.

Do's is that you should have gone to a professional piercer because you wouldn't have to play a guessing game with your piercing and overall safety.

Don't's are to never self pierce yourself again.

You shouldn't be piercing yourself if you don't know how to take care of it and unless you know what you should and should not be doing.

You have to clean it twice daily on the outside with mild soap and water. Rinse the inside with Biotene after eating and drinking, avoid mouthwashes with alcohol because it irritates piercings. Start using a new toothbrush immediately and brush your teeth and tongue twice a day. DO NOT PLAY WITH THE PIERCING. I cannot stress that enough. Playing with it will irriate the area, slow healing and can cause scarring. Basically, if you have issues, call a local piercer and ask them questions.

ok ok ok yeah your a little ballzee like me i have pierced many things in my life time, but i had my lip done and they dont tell you that you cant eat and drink anything they just tell you to leave it in for about id say 10 weeks "thats how long i left mine in" no oral sex no kissing "in other words noone elses body fluid can get in it or near it" you can clean the outside of it with bactine "you can buy it at walmart, white bottle green lid" swish your mouth out with listerine after you eat everytime. but only clean it with bactine in the morn and at night cause if you clean it to much it can get infected too.. oh yeah they also tell you to wash it with dial soap! i washed mine while in the shower.. if you do this i gurantee that it will be fine.. and depending on what you have in it you might want to go to the tattoo parlor and but you a 12 or 14 gage lebrea stud. "just remember thr bigger the number the smaller the size" mine was a 14.. and one more thing if you have it on your bottom lip keep a check on it and make sure that it doesnt start rubbing your gum line down at your teeth!!!!! HOPE IT WORKS OUT FOR YOU!

don't take it out and it won't close. they can close in minutes even if you have had it for years. gragle with salt water or listerine as often as needed to prevent stinging and after eating or smoking. brush teeth 3 times a day. eat slushies and ice cream. if you used anything other than a sterile piercing needle, expect alot of swelling and maybe an infection. eat a lot of chewable vitamin C and take ibuprofin.

dont eat spicy food...
just keep the ring in for a while till it heals,,
then if you didnt use a ring that is normally used then you'll have to stretch it out to either a 12 gauge or 14 gauge(smaller than 12)

Cool ! I pierced my own nose and used hydrogen peroxide on a Q-tip to keep it from getting infected. It worked out fine and I've never had any problems. I would leave the ring IN your lip so it won't close up. You could also use cloraseptic if you eat or drink anything that irritates it. Hope this helps !
