I would suggested getting the APA publication manual, because the way you quote something depends on how you use it.

You have to cite all works and list at the end.

the rules for citing information varies depending on what format you use. APA, MLA etc. Using exact words without quotes or not giving credit to the source of the information is plagarizing. If you can restate the information in your own words - not just replacing a few words here or there you are pretty safe. Just be sure to give credit to any information sources.

Well, I learned this the hard way on just a few weeks ago.

Use a bibliography, I suggest you use the MLA format for your sources. Also, words used directly from the source must be in quotation marks and then put the author's name in parenthesis and page number if applicable.

Depending on the teacher, avoid using Wikipedia because it is not official (even though I use it as my standard source).

collect info you like on cards

then use quotes for anything you really like and quote exactly

if you just steal the idea (Smith, 2007)

do it like that, then at the end its like this

Smith, Lynn Dr.
The Lost Art of Smithy
Houghton, Mifflin, Chicago, Ill, 2006 pp, 369-71
