I've never skied before, but I'm going in two weeks. I must find a pair of hopefully warm, waterproof ski pants, but the things I've tried on so far make me look like a microfiber marshmallow! I've seen some cute things online, but I don't have $300 + to spend (and I'm not even sure if I'll LIKE skiing yet).

Any advice?

There HAS to be something available that is fashionable, functional, and doesn't add a ton of padding to one's lower half.

I've been skiing for a very long time and the key is layering your clothing. when it comes to pants, get the kind that have suspenders (bibs) and just get a shell (w/o insulation). Buy a very good pair of Hot Chili's thermo underwear. They're a little expensive but you won't get cold.

Or you could get this...

I just saw it, it looks awesome!

You have some good ans. here, however if you are only experimenting yet,try a VALUE VILLAGE store to get started,or like store.Make sure the pant have a bottom snow protection lining (usually 12 to 15 in. long).Incidentally these microfiber marsh mellow ones are a lifesaver when you get into some face or bum plants.lol HAVE FUN.

Cabelas.com is a good source for nearly all of your outdoor needs. I am not sure about your fashion style but they have items for all ages and gender. Look for any thing made by polar-tech. Its light-weight and warm. Hope this helps!

dude.
they're going to make you look bigger than you are.
they make everyone look marshmallow-ish.
deal.
the point is to have fun skiing, not worry about looking fashionable.
