I usually work out 5 days a week and yesterday I added a new workout to my usual weight routine called the "stiff leg dead lift". Anyhow, I must have strained my back doing that because this morning I could hardly get out of bed and walk. I've been in major pain all day and my whole lower back is throbbing and spasing out. I've been taking ALEVE pills but they don't really work that well. How long do you think it will take for my back pain to go away and should I avoid the treadmill tommorrow? I hate missing workouts.

Your back is nothing to mess around with. You should go see your doctor. Meanwhile try alternating heat/ice every 20 minutes for an hour. Your doctor can prescribe muscle relaxers or another type of pain med.
