eh, i dont like that because it actualy doesnt coat it evenly verry well. your best bet is to pop it then put the popped corn into a lage bowl with drizzled oil and toss in any other desired spices. tossing them in a large bowl will give you a nice even coating.

My favorite way to make popcorn is to cook the popcorn first in the oil. After the popcorn has popped add salt and whatever kind of spices needed. I like to shake the container to evenly coat or you can use your hands.

You do not want to add anything to the oil. You will only end up frying or burning it, due to the high temperature of the oil. After you pop your corn, drizzle butter over it or use a butter flavored spray and spray evenly over the hot popped corn and sprinkle with salt or any desired spice. The heat of the corn will absorb just enough of the butter to flavor it, leaving enough for the salt to stick.

For a healthier recipe - use a hot air pop-corn popper to pop the corn instead of popping it in hot oil.

salt is actually been known in cooking to prevent the oil from reaching that too high temperature which results in smoking+burning,
So yes go ahead ,but wait until after popcorn is popped to coat with spices.

Salt actually retards the popping, so it's better to wait. We like to pop it first, and while it is still hot and just barely dumped into the bowl, we add salt and shake or stir it up. That way, the oil helps hold the salt on the corn, but doesn't make the popcorn take longer to pop.

Back in my highschool days I worked at Target.

I worked in the snack bar. Anyway we added the oil and the butter flavored salt with the popcorn.

Worked fine everytime.

salt breaks down the oil
so it is a bad idea to add it to the oil
