I should have said, "Does it to be around your lips OR nose?" Can you get it on your cheek?

Yes, the virus that causes it can erupt anywhere.

you mean a cold sore? Cold sores from a disease that is rooted in your nervous system (herpes type 1). It is in the same family as chicken pox; shingles is a 'second coming' of chicken pox. There is nothing you can do about it. Just avoid touching it, and wash your hands often. You can spread it to your eyes or genitals. BE VERY CAREFUL. The most common occurance is right where your lip ends and your normal face skin meet. To aswer your question, yes, it can be anywhere.
But you cannot diagnose it yourself. Go to the Dr. to have it diagnosed. It may be something else, like a boil.
