would i recieve full benefits as if a child for a parent under 65 that i claim on my income taxes

If your parent meets all the requirements to be claimed as a dependent on your return, then you can claim them, but as a qualifying relative, not a qualifying child, so the benefits are not the same as with a child. You can't get EIC because of them, for example, but could qualify to file as head of household.
