You need an immigration lawyer and pronto! My immigration law knowledge is very out of date and I do not want to mislead you, but under the old law (still the law??), he could apply for a Minister's Permit allowing him to stay while the government processed an inland application for landed status on the basis of marriage / intended marriage. This (or any other process) could take a while, so get crackin if you want to do it. He should, at least, try to renew his work permit so he can stay. If he cannot, he'll have to leave and come back later. BTW, immigration lawyers are expensive, so I hope you folks have a few thousand dollars at hand!
Now, you say you love the guy and do not want to marry him, but he is trying to force you to marry him. That sends up a lot of red flags for me. If your love is true, it should tolerate a separation while he tries to apply under an immigration category that does not depend upon marriage. Such applications normally have to be made from outside of Canada, but he may be able to stay. Again, get a good lawyer.
Immigration law is a tricky little maze and you could easily get confused. Do not rely on advice from friends or off of this board and don't just do a couple of internet searches. Go to someone who can get your details and hammer together a reasonable plan of action.
Lastly, do NOT get sucked into a marriage that you don't want. If you think being apart for a few months or even a year or so is more than your relationship will tolerate, then the marriage wouldn't work.

You would be making a very big mistake! Don't do it! It won't guarantee him being able to stay in the country. As well, even if he is eventually able to stay you will be financially responsible for him for a long time, even if you split up later. You are too young to make this mistake! Let him go. If the two of you really, really love each other, he will do what he needs to do to be able to immigrate legally.

Hey sweetie,
Get wise. Even marrying an illegal does not guarantee them immediate citizenship. That thinking is of years past by.
Today, if you are married to an illegal, they look at his/her contribution to the USA. If the person is a VIP applicant (like a scholar / rocket scientist / doctor) then he/she gets priority application status. If not, he/she gets early consideration but no guarantee of citizenship and surely no immediate status as a US citizen. All you need to do is call your local court house to verify this is all true.

I hate it for you dear. However, the law now states that even marrying a citizen will not keep you in the country.l This is because there have been so many marriages just for the purpose of gaining citixenship.

Don't do it. It will not keep him here and you will be married to a bully if you do.
