I'm quite short sighted and I have swimming lessons coming up, so I'm hoping I can tryusing my contacts anyway. I'm worried though cos previously someone had told me it's not advisable.

It might not be advisable...but I tried with lenses and swimming goggles last wednesday, it just worked out fine...just make sure the goggles make a good seal, don't let water seep through....with my experience don't take the goggles off until you are done with your class, cuz the water has a lot of chlorine...you won't believe a few drops of water can make your eyes red and itchy and with lenses it might sting later on.

My Grandad has this challenge the place he can't see underwater. I dont think of you are able to placed on contacts underwater. right this is my answer. My Grandad has to placed on glasses to work out (his eyesight is actual undesirable) and swimming helps his undesirable back, how can he integrate the two he asked the optition, and that they gave him goggles that have glasses lenses in them- incredibly they're like glasses crosses with goggles- he is going swimming a week now comfortably. i does not placed on contacts in spite of the undeniable fact that through fact there is an threat they're going to fall out and, like maximum others say- if your goggles fill with water- u would be in vast difficulty, incredibly in the event that they fall ut into the water of your goggles come off

You can. Most of my friends do, and since this is the first summer that I'll have had my contact lenses, I think that I will. I think that goggles will be enough if you don't water in them. And if you don't use goggles for whatever reason, whatever you do DON'T GET WATER IN YOUR EYES!!!! Be prepared to lose a few because no one's perfect.

Yes it is possible but you absolutely must not submerge your face in water because you could easily lose a contact lens...and don't get splashed in the face - if this is a problem (which it could be if you are taking lessons), you should probably wear goggles. If you are submerging underwater you should probably be wearing goggles anyway because chlorine isn't the best feeling in your eyes anyway :)

I read all the previous answers and agree that they are likely to become lost and soft lenses have a tendency to absorb chemicals like chlorine. As long as you are considering wearing goggles anyway, why not have the lenses ground to your prescription? You can get advice from opticians or scuba equipment suppliers.

It's not a good idea to do this - the contacts can easily come off and you'd end up paying much more for contacts/swimming lessons

You have 2 options.
1. wearing contact lenses then wearing regular goggles.
2. wearing special goggles which has power.

As long as you don't let water in, you should be good. But to be on the safe side, you should take them off. I don't have contact lenses but I've had friends.
