Easier to make a square box than a round one!! DUH.....

Easy question, but a good one I think.
Manufacturing anything round is very hard.
Square boxes came along long before pizzas were invented.
The pizza is round because dough is easy to flatten into
a round or circular shape, as one does with muffins, pancakes, and scones.
Then too, a square box is easier to close and to carry; you can close it at only four places very quickly; with a hinged box you can use one closure.
And besides, we're used to square and rectangular screens, so decorating a square box seems more sensible.

I would say because of the box convenience. It's easier to fold, and work with a square box, than a circular box...
