It actually depends on the relationship... Sex is just a matter of few minutes. Then he won't like it... Yes, foreplay can be extended if possible and if he likes it. He should not consider it a waste of time. But if u have good 3-4 hrs with you then u can give a lot of time for foreplay.
If you are serious that the relationship/bond must be strong enough then you can try these things...
Regularly praise ur boy friend for his looks, strength, brains etc. but do it genuinely... don't fake. Talk about what you like in him and how 'safe' and 'secured' you feel in his presence.
DON'T ever discuss about his or ur past relationships even if he provokes u to discuss. It'll spoil the atmosphere.
Never compare him with anyone while talking with him.
DO NOT discuss money matters if he is not earning good enough.
Don't waste time in discussiong about other people (friends, relatives etc.). Talk about the relationship that u share with him and how important he is for you.
Show genuine concern if he shares his problems... but don't offer for help if he doesnt want (it'll insult him).

i dont have a girlfriend, but if i did
ask me questions about myself, personal or not, i love answering questions about myself :P
but the one thing i would NEVER get tired of
BACKRUBS!!! its my biggest weakness
i wouldnt mind her taking control of the little physical stuff we do either :P
