Someone said "At the beginning, He created humans to be perfect..." Adam and Eve were the first people on earth... but they ate the "forbidden fruit"... this makes them imperfect... does it not? Help!

Someone please define how Adam and Eve were "perfect" then, cos this is really confusing me... they were made perfect, but their free will made them imperfect? So what? They looked perfect? What does perfect look like? How were they perfect if they had it in them to eat the forbidden fruit??

You're left with three options

God doesnt' exist and the tale is a fictional story
God is imperfect and/or not all-powerful
There was a bad translation from ancient hebrew to english or some other mid-language along the way..

Your call.

I agree with Randy. God created them in perfect "conditions" but not with the perfection of God. Only God is "perfect" in that sense.
"Someone said "At the beginning, He created humans to be perfect..." Adam and Eve were the first people on earth... but they ate the "forbidden fruit"... this makes them imperfect... does it not?"
Interesting to note that your question involves someone saying and not "the Bible saying." If "someone saying" is confusing you, consider studying the Bible for yourself under the guidance of a "Qualified" Teacher.
Don't be confused, because the Bible is not confusing if you read it in context.
I think Randy deserves credit for the best answer.

I think that you are playing games with semantics, and you know it, because you are trying to see if you can trick stupid people into giving you another answer that you can ridicule in a later question.

A more accurate statement would be that Adam & Eve were created "innocent", or that they were perfect specimens of the human species. You seem to define "perfect" as the same thing as being all-powerful and infallible, which is obviously not what people mean

They were created perfect.. What this would look like? I don't know seeming as we are all imperfect...
God wants us to serve him. He gave mankind a perfect start. But humans have chosen to ignore gods requirements (as did Adam and Eve) and decide for themselves what is good and what is bad..

When God first made Adam and Eve, they were perfect. They were made in His image. God is perfect, and yet God gave them a choice. Yes he told them not to eat of the tree that was in the middle of the Garden of Eden. Satan, wanting to destroy God's perfect creation, decided to test Eve to make her doubt, and question God. In doing so, Eve sinned and ate of the fruit, and convince Adam to take a bite. As soon as that was done, their eyes were opened, and they realized that they were naked, and immediately they knew that they had sinned. In guilt they ran in fear and tried to hide from God, even though God knew exactly where they were. And automatically they start passing the blame on someone else. Adam blamed God for Eve, and Eve put the blame on the serpent. So to deal with the sin, God punished all of them, put gave us a promise through Eve, stating that our ultimate redemption from sin would come from her offspring which was Jesus Christ. And that redemption was achieved at the Cross when Christ was Crucified, (Satan bruising his heel) and his resurrection from the dead (Christ crushing his head).

If free will causes a person to be imperfect, then Adam and Eve were not perfect.

Adam and Eve were made "Perfect" in the sense that they knew not of sin. They were human however and sin sought them out.
The sin of pride brought them the knowledge of good and evil.
Both were cursed for their pride. How gracious God was to them, that he even gave them animal skins to cover themselves and keep warm. Only God is "Perfect"
God Bless You...Peace.

They ate (assimilated or consumed knowledge) from the tree of knowledge of good and evil (Satan).

That's why God said;

Gen 3:22 And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:

We all must eat (assimilate or consume knowledge) of the tree of life (Jesus Christ), to live for ever.

Adam and were not the first humans.
Adam was formed on the eighth day.
Mankind was made / created on the sixth day.

More importantly

Adam said

The woman YOU made for me had me do this (eat the apple)

And the woman said

The Serpant bid me to do it!

Do YOU like WEASELS in your garden!

What do you do when the man or woman in your life says

Well, they got naked and ORDERED me to TAKE THEM

What am I to do, I'm only HUMAN!

Well, what do you do, throw them out of Eden or not?

Incest grew to become into no longer a sin till the day that God mentioned it grew to become into. It grew to become into no longer incorrect till now that factor. no longer till the gene pool grew to become so corrupt that God made a regulation against it. only curious. maximum atheists have faith in evolution. Evolution kinda, sorta dictates that incest had to ensue. why are atheists rapid to show out incest in the Bible, and sluggish to realize that it may could be a ingredient if evolution had taken place?
