According to the British Medical Journal (one of the world's leading medical journals) the answer is yes.
If you pay attention to the extraordinary number of TV ads for drugs (just a small part of drug advertising) you can see signs of this reality for yourself.

It depends on when in the drug's lifetime you are referring to. It takes years to develop a drug. There are many trial phases. This can be advertising in itself. Once the drug is approved, then the advertising can begin. From there it depends on the drug. So sometimes yes and sometimes no.

Oh, yes, and even of the research money they spend a lot of it is to develop me-too drugs to compete with others rather than innovations to do something really new and improved.

they do.
have you ever noticed watching Tv, majority of the commercials are for drug companies and weight-loss products.
listen to those drug commercials....pay attention to the side effects.....they're amazing.
that's because there are no real minimums on testing to put out a drug now.....it used to be 10 yrs, so they could determine the hazards through testing, but not any more, they just tell us to be careful, as it might grow a limb, or cause abdominal bleeding etc etc

Oh yeah! I work for a Dr. Office and beleive me the perks are off the wall. The drug reps bring treats everday, lunch, breakfast and even pay for huge outings with the staff and dr's. All to get the Dr's to use their drugs. It is depressing to see all the stuff they give away!

Yup, they do...
Not all of them... but..in the most part yes.
It's all about the sales rather than the research.
