I believe the US, along with iths allies, should do whatever is necessary to stop the spread of nuclear weapons. We have more than enough to blow-up the earth several times over. Why would anyone need them?
If some small country believes nukes are necessary for their protection and survival, their arguement just doesn't make sense. For example, why would North Korea need them? Who wants that lousy country? Would they be missed if they no longer exist? The point of this, there is nothing to protect. And if some nation decided to rid the world of that country, North Korea could do nothing to stop it.
What is Iran afraid of? Israel has nukes. If Iran had nukes, would that stop Israel from doing what they desire? I doubt it. Instead of launching a nuclear missile, Israel could sneak one across the border, detonate, and Iran wouldn't know what hit them.
North Korea and Iran are not that big. One nuclear missile donated in the center of the country would pretty much end their way of life.
I believe that North Korea and Iran want nukes to stop the US and its allies from invading their land. They may believe nukes are a deterent, but we have already demonstrated our ability to "shock and awe." We could render them powerless and not get close enough for them to use their missiles.
Or, do they think they can threaten a neighboring country, maybe even invade another country, kind of like Sadam did with Kuwait. "We are going to take over your country and if you put up any resistance, we'll just nuke you."
You know what Israel would do if Iran made this statement. Israel would kick butt and wouldn't care about taking the time to know their names.
Again, I ask, who or what, is the purpose of obtaining nuclear missiles? I just don't see any reason for these two, or other countries, to develop any WMD's.
