Um, I'd be a bit worried if I were you. When two people go out on a date, they should each be thinking about how to impress the other people -- but neither person should be saying "you need to impress me." That smacks of someone who is testing you out, to see if you're the kind of person who can be manipulated and controlled.
Of course, that doesn't apply if he merely meant it as "we're going out to a nice place, and I've only seen you in casual clothes, so I can't wait to see how impressive you look" -- if that's the case, dress to impress and don't stress. No need to punish or needle the guy in that case.
However, if you think I'm right about the controlling thing, I'd dress DOWN, or at least the way I normally dressed. If he gives you a hard time, say "You're not impressed? I'm sorry to hear that; this is the person that I am, and I hope you want to go on this date, but you'll have to date me, not someone working overtime to be someone they're not." His reaction to that will tell you everything you need to know.

he shoud impress YOU! as for you, be very nice and have some cool things to talk about. If you laugh, smile, and are really nice, that's all any guy could dream of when wanting a perfect date imo. Forget the sex stuff....over rated. oh, and cut the date off kind of early in a fun way. that will REALLY impress him. Say you don't want him to get sick of you. Have fun

A real man would already be impressed with you!
Be yourself, if he isn't impressed with you being YOU, then move on. This guy sounds like a big jerk to me.

Dress nice, smell good, make him open your door,laugh at his stupid jokes, a (1 ) hug and a (1) kiss is enough for a first date. any more and he'll most likely think you're easier than you may like and trust me you don't want to impress him THAT way

be yourself, dress nice but not over the top, be curteous and polite, dont be afraid to be funny. good luck..but dont forget if you dont like him haev a back bone and say no to another date lol!
