planting trees will help a little. a few trees in your yard or something won't help much at all. to try and solve mitigating rising atmospheric carbon dioxide, you would need a major tree planting project for an extreamly large area like a town or city. the trees would need to be many and dense. if you go too far away from the area with the planted trees, the sensation of mitigating rising atmospheric carbon dioxide will thicken unless there is less creation of carbon dioxide in that area. where you plant trees, the situation will get beter.

It would help, to a very small extent, since trees take up CO2 for their metabolic needs. However, as others have mentioned, it would take a LOT of trees to make any great impact on a global scale. I am happy to see someone mentioned that plankton carry out the vast majority of photosynthesis on Earth - this is true.
I would also add that if you are asking your question out of concern about climate change, CO2 is one of several greenhouse gases that warm the Earth, and trees do not take up most (or all?) of those other gases.
Better reasons to plant trees are that they provide habitat for wildlife, prevent erosion... and are beautiful to look at! :)

Most of the photosynthesis in the world is carried out by plankton. Planting trees helps but you'd need to plant and grow tons of trees to make an impact.

Trees or any other green-leafed plant would help in that because they give off oxygen by means of photosynthesis, a chemical reaction that results from chlorophyll reacting with the sunlight.

It will help, but there are lots of things we can do to limit carbon dioxide levels. Like not be so dependent on fossil fuels, excess pollution reduction and many more. You are right in your concern because we are depleting many resources out of the just-don't-care attitude many people have.

I think so, but they keep cutting the trees down to build malls and such.
