Where did this physician do his training/

There are numerous cases of inceased iron levels and ferratin being present for very long periods post transplant and surgical stress!
An iron-loaded liver from a 20-year-old man with occult haemochromatosis was inadvertently transplanted into a 64-year-old lady with primary biliary cirrhosis. Increased hepatic iron storage was observed in biopsy specimens undertaken at 18, 30 and 36 months after transplantations. Serum iron levels and transferrin iron saturation increased and remained elevated 4 years after surgery. Ferritin levels were also consistently increased. Iron absorption test, performed at 4 years after transplant, was increased at 38%

I am not a medical professional, but I do have one theory. If blood transfusion occurred during surgery, perhaps the blood received was much higher in iron than normal, especially if he received several pints. Men with high iron levels are often encouraged to donate blood to help reduce their iron levels. If this was the case, it should be temporary condition hopefully since the body replaces its own blood in time. Keep in good communication with your doctor. Again, this is just a theory and I am not a medical professional of ANY kind nor do I have any kind of healthcare training in my background.
