You can, however, your must stop taking any and all medications your are currently taking for the IBS. Usually, Crohn's disease is passed on to the fetus as well, but only 7-8% chance. If you are taking meds for this while you are pregnant, you also may be discouraged from breastfeeding. Check with your doctor, or call a local pediatrician for some pointers, advice.

I have also heard that there is a higher risk of premature delivery.

You'll be fine...I have IBS and it was never more in control than when I was pregnant. In part this was because I was so careful about what I ate and it was also because my body was changing so much. IBS shouldn't affect a pregnancy, although if you are on any medications for it you need to talk to your dr about whether or not to stop taking them.

Irritable bowel syndrome??? As long as you eat well & get proper hydration you should have no problems. Sometimes pregnancy & menses aggrivate it. I had a dr. put my on medicine & made it worse. I did't have that. Make sure that's what it is. See your dr. You may not be able to take your medicine while pregnant. However, it will have nothing to do with the pregnancy at all. Except when you start experiencing morning sickness. You will just have to make sure you drink extra fluid. Which you will be doing anyway! Just eat healthy for you & the baby!

Of course you can!! You might find during late pregnancy that you get a bit of heartburn or digestive problems, but most women get that anyway, whether they have ibs or not.

Your doctor will need to pay special attention to your treatment during your pregnancy, to avoid problems of toxicity.

A trial reported that taking a probiotic mixture helped to alleviate symptoms. You can also try soluble fibre or peppermint oil.

That is a medical question that is best answered by a doctor. From my laymans point of view I don't see why not. I have IBS and so do a lot of other people. I have never heard of it causing a miscarriage. But please ask your doctor or phone NHS direct
