Best bang 4 your buck is SUZUKI. I suggest 500cc 0r more as you may want get into Snow Tracks etc.

For just over $6000.00 you can get a Suzuki King Quad 700 EFI that is loaded with features.

I have had one for just over 2 years and I have never had a problem with it with the exception of a fouled spark plug.

I also have a Can-Am Outlander 800HO EFI but you would have to step up a little bit in what you spent to get to that level.
Can-Am also makes a 500HO and a 650HO that are EFI quads and would be good choices but I am not sure what they would cost?

The Suzuki, Yamaha, Kawasaki, Arctic Cat, Polaris and Can-Am offer you true 4wd as the first 4 have locking differentials.
The later 2 have lockers but they are 'variable' and work when needed not when you tell it to. The Honda's have 3wd although the Honda says it's 4wd.
The old Honda 300's and the Rancher 350's are tough quads although they lack many features that other quads have on them.

If I was you, I would ride red. Of riding 7 years on my Honda Fourtrax 300, it hasn't broke down once, and for what I do it has all the power i need. If you need more power six grand will get you a bigger ATV. Hope you liked the advise.

As for durability I'd say a Honda, for power a yamaha. I owned a Honda 350 for 9 years and it never gave me one problem, and I put it through hell.
