Last I heard is that they are still negotiating it. When Nextel got the cup sponsorship in 04, they grandfathered in the cell companies that were already there. I just looked up on speedtv.com, jeffburton.com, nascar.com, SI.com, rcrracing.com and cnn.com and there's nothing on any of those sites saying its final yet. Let's just keep our fingers crossed and hope the idiots at Nextel come to their senses and allow AT&T to sponsor Jeff. It would only be right sense it's still the same company. Does Nextel really think Cingular customers are going to change to Nextel if they disallow Cingular / AT&T as a sponsor? Personally, I have 3 cingular phones and a cingular internet card.. I am way too satisfied with the coverage and customer service to change companies just because Cingular doesn't sponsor a car. And if Nextel and Sprint could merge and stay......why can't Cingular and AT&T merge and stay???????? WAKE UP NEXTEL!!!!!!! I'm starting to feel toward Nextel the same way I feel about politicians that sling mud in their campaigns. Do anything possible to get rid of competion. How about gettiing more customers by giving something to compete against (which Nextel can't do)

I heard that to. It is Crap, But can you Blame Nextel. I mean they paid alot of money to sponsor the series I guess they should be allowed to do whatever. By the way, the whole story is that Cingular is no longer Cingular. Cingular is now AT&T. The Cingular name is no longer going to be used. So NEXTEL is not going to allow AT&T to take over the sponsorship. Oh well, It is crap, but I can also see their side.

Think it is a bad move by Nextel Cup officials but RCR knew this was going to happen eventually.

Richard Childress is dealing with it in a businesslike and responsible manner, can we at least try to do the same?
(unless we're drunk, then we can rant and rave like the idiotic lunatics we are.) I speak for myself only,of course, lest I offend the the delicate sensibilities of those easily offended souls who seem often inclined to venture here.

Yeah, I heard about that but I feel like something is going to be worked out...
That's alot of money that Nascar is going to loose. Don't you think someone didn't do their homework? Anyway I certainly hope they get something good going on this, Ward Burton doesn,t need this...
