What Bush says
20,000 troops increase :Mistake of not sending sufficient troops must be rectified. Troops stabilise Baghdad and reinforce Anbar province, on condition that Iraqis take on Shia militias
$1bn reconstruction aid :Fresh funds will help create jobs and stimulate economy to show Iraqis there can be a peace dividend, and friendly Middle East states should help out too
What Congress says
20,000 troops increase :Troop build-up is a mistake. House expected to vote on increase, Senate legislation forces Bush to seek congressional approval but neither move could block troop deployment
$1bn reconstruction aid :Don't throw good money after bad. US has squandered billions since the invasion and Democrats plan investigation. Millions of dollars 'overpaid' by Pentagon to Iraq contractors

I thought you meant originally, when Congress "authorized Bush to use force if necessary". No one in Congress thought he would invade Iraq if it wasn't necessary. But the second they authorized, he invaded. He LIED to Congress, America, and then proceeded to waste half a trillion Tax payer dollars, get 3000 Americans killed, and 30,000 wounded, and basically got us trapped in Iraq.
The only thing that Congress did wrong was to believe that their president would act PRUDENTLY and with the country's best interest at heart. Instead Bush acted with his, Cheney's and Halliburton's bank accounts at heart and he screwed thousands of American families and ran up a debt that will take decades to pay back. AND he made America less safe, for decades to come.

The new Bush "plan" is to send more troops and hope that the Iraqi government will keep their promises this time. The "plan" is to try and clean this mess that we've created. Democrats don't need a plan, the Bush "plan" helped them gain back Congress!

In a speech after Bush's, Harry Reid said that 20,000 troops were not enough, even though he opposes the surge. Dems want it both ways. Whatever Bush does is naturally wrong to them.

mike n has no idea of what is going on in the world. evey one is blaming the war on bush. but a president can only wage a war for 90 days without the consent of congress, they are the ones who ar paying for it now. and bush is guiging them with his plan. if we leave now, they will be left ina a civil war that will drag other counrties in starting a WW3
