Sure - just get the title. There has to be a transfer of at least $1.
Watch out for being ripped-off, though, guy.

I am a car dealer and I can tell you that the ONLY reason that someone under 17 would not be able to title a car is if you bought it at a dealership. The reason you cannot title a car at a car dealership in your name is ONLY because of contract laws. If you sign a contract and you are under the age of 18, you can rescind the contract. Dealers won't let you title a car under the age of 18 to prevent you from bringing the car back. The title office, if you buy from an individual.....doesn't even care. At my particular car lot, if the parents sign contracts...............I let them sign a statement that THEY are buying the car, but the title goes in the kids name. Even a dealer such as myself might do it if they know their paperwork. GOOD LUCK!

No. You can execute a contract with someone but if you want out later the law will protect you. It would be a legal contract if nothing else happens over time. The seller would be taking a chance. Does this make sense? So it's yes and no, but as a minor you can get out of the contract.

No you cannot buy a car from an individual until you are at least 18. And you cannot register it or get insurance. No one at a lot is going to sell you a car or offer you financing either you are to young to be considered mature enough to make this kind of decision. Talk to you Parents.

No, you cannot (not legally). You must be 18 to engage in a legally binding contract. That doesn't mean you can't get it in your parents name or just wait a year until your 18th birthday. You cannot make any major purchase (legally) until you are 18. And even if they sell you the car for one dollar, because it is a car it is still considered a major purchase.

In my state minor's can own cars. To legally drive the car you will have to have it properly registered and insured. Check with your local Department of Motor Vehicle for your specific state laws.

that's because at an auction thy know that a contract with a minor is not legal,
and if something go's wrong with the car you will use that to your advantage.
you can not enter a legal binding contract with a minor that's for your protection.

as long as you have the money you can get the car and the title, I don't see any problem with registering it in your name.
