If you’re looking for accurate acne information, best to see a dermatologist. Some people believe doctors are predisposed to take the easy way to deal with acne… prescription drugs. But, with many, this simplistic answer may not be the appropriate course of action. Some feel that such prescription drugs just treat the symptoms and not the underlying cause. But, a local dermatologist is still your best starting point.

For me personally, I discovered a great informational acne treatment site. Not only is there good information/articles but I got their audio e-book and following it’s advice can now say that my acne is a thing of the past! Keep in mind, were all different and there are various types of acne, so what works for some may not be totally effective for all.

Bottom line, hang in there, you will get past this! Sincere best wishes and good luck.
Oh, by the way the site that helped me is:

some MDs prescribe Doxycycline (DORYX), Minocycline (Dynacin) for acne. There are some topical creams (Retin [tretinonin] , BenzaClin) and there is a BIG DOG called Acutane. If you have SERIOUS acne, ask about that. It's a capsule and you will have to Join a program called "iPledge", all about that if you are a female patient of child bearing age, you must be on birth control and be educated about the use of contraceptives, because the drug can seriously harm a fetus. All males, and females on this medication must register with this program.

In my opinion the best acne medicine is a medicine you can get with a prescription, it is BenzaClin. I myself have used it and it worked great. Also, acne is caused because your body is not able to make its oils so it creates the acne, giving it more space. So, my advice to you is to wash your face at least 3 times a day, and that should help.

I don't think they use antibiotics for acne anymore. If you have deep, cystic type acne, you need to see a dermatologist for a prescription.

Topical, its clindamycin better than erythromycin. Oral: hmmm...I do not like taking oral antibiotic unless my condition is really that worse and all the other medications failed. Not only that the bacteria gets "immunized", I might be needing the antibiotics should I incur a fatal disease. Try cleansing the liver first and also take supplements like zinc and vitamin B6 before deciding to take antibiotics.
