First of all i'm 26 and my GF is 25. We've been dating for 8 months. My girlfriend has developed a hole in the front of her 2 top front teeth. The hole is at the gum line. I'm worried that if she doesn't do anything, it will get worse and they will fall out. My problem is she won't go to the dentist (no dental insurance) even when I told her I would pay. This is embarrassing b/c sometimes food particles get stuck in it, and it's disgusting too. I can't bring it up b/c she will obviously become angry. But damn, she needs to take care of herself. She also gives the excuse that she is poor. Well she lives with her mom and works part time at a job that pays 7 bucks an hour. So it's her fault she is poor, she's a grown woman. Get another job, work some overtime. Something, don't just sit there and do nothing and let your teeth fall out. Everything else about her is perfect, but I don't know if I can put up with someone who obviously doesn't care about themselves.

To be fair, I brought up the whole thing about 2 months ago. She works in retail so she said after the holiday season when things slow down she will see about going to the dentist. Well it's practically Feb and it doesn't seem to be at the top of her "to do" list from what I have observed. She also says it's not my job to pay for her dentist. It's like she is too proud or stubborn to take my help. I've tried to overlook it, b/c I'm not perfect either. But if you have a problem that you can fix, I believe you should at least make an effort to correct it. Oh here is the kicker, she said when she gets her tax return she wants to use that money to get her outside cat shots and stuff to bring it in. I felt like shouting F*** THE CAT GO TO THE DENTIST WITH THAT MONEY!! lol

im with you on this one. as much as you should accept people with their imperfections, this one can be fixed so its not really an imperfection. i could never with someone that didnt take care of themselves. so do what you have to do. if anything you shouldnt feel bad, cus you've done enough to help her out.

If she's willing to let something like this go, she'll let anything go, but no you cannot dump her over this. Personally, women without teeth can provide certain services on a level the teethed can only dream to attain.
You have to drop this line of conversation for at least a month, then find some other reason to dump her.

I don't blame you. Taking care of someones teeth is one of the most important thing that I can think of. It sounds like over all your girl has no ambition. I think that I would consider moving on simply to find someone who better suits you and has come goals in life.

Ever see the movie "Shallow Hal"? I'll just bet that you have no faults at all.....right? Try a different approach that doesn't make her feel embarrassed about her teeth, and appearance.

I don't get why she won't go. I mean if my boyfriend said that to me I would go pronto! It's nothing to be embarrassed about. It's not her fault it is happening, but it is her fault if she doesn't take care of it.

lol.. tell her that either she goes to the dentist or you leave her... I do however think that this is just a little silly for you to go to this extreme...
