Options. With an education, you can choose to be a stay-at-home parent, a professional or a beach bum. But it is your choice, for the most part. Without an education you are constrained to a limited segment of occupations and life choices.
An education, regardless of focus, expands your problem solving, team work and research skills. These are skills that are readily transferrable even if your specialty goes away. That is why there are so many positions that just require a Bachelor's degree with no specification of what the degree should be in.

Go find people who don't have an education. Look closely. Notice something ? They are doing more harm than good.
