First off dont be worried. It's a very common problem that a lot of women have. I myself had it and was diagnosed when I was 22. It just means that your thyroid gland is not providing your body with the propper amount of thyroid hormones. Symptoms can range from tiredness, dry hair, forgetfulness to aches and pains. The best thing you can do is see a specialist called an endocrinologist. Since they know much more about thyroid problems than general physicians they can help you to find the best amount of medication to take. I take one pill a day and you will probably have to do the same. So it's not a big deal, and the medication will make you feel better. Do some research and you'll feel more ok with the idea. If you have any more questions about it feel free to e-mail me. Good luck, and no worries.

having an underactive thyroid gland is called Hypothyroidism. You take a pill daily containing hormones and hopefully the symptoms go away. Usually they will go away if you are at the correct thyroid levels for you and if you are on the correct thyroid medication. I've learned with this condition that you need to learn as much as you can about it. That way, you get the very best care. If you still have symptoms after starting medication and have been on it for 6 months, it usually means the dosage isn't correct or you need a different medication. Below are some thyroid links. Look them over, so you know what to ask your doctor. Remember when testing your blood to adjust dosage, to always test in the morning. Failure to do so, could cause you to be on too low of a dose of medication.

Hypothyroidism or Hashimoto's disease. It is a common ailment and an easy cure. I had an underactive thyroid and started taking Synthroid. It's a pill I take every morning and now I have a perfect thyroid.

Hypothyroidism is complicated and affects every cell of your body. It can be diagnosed with a blood test.I have it and take a pill every morning. Below are useful links that will give you all the information you need along with symptoms. You may have only a few symptoms or many of them. The medication doesn't work immediately, so the sooner you're diagnosed and start your medication the sooner you'll feel better. Good Luck! =)
