There are many people probably thousand who are upset over losing Barbaro, I got the chance to see him just briefly a couple of weeks before the Derby it was something to see, he stood tall and proud it took my breath away, a lot of people have written some beautiful, touching things from the heart about Barbaro, and then also then has been many who have written and they have been judgementable, cruel and cold, that just because he was a horse we should not show grief, just look what the animal kingdom do for man, and they deserve kindness and respect. I was told several years ago that because I love horses so much I was childish and it was time for me to grow, it lovong another living creature whether it is man or animals makes me childish then I never wish to grow up and I am sixty years old and my dog and my horse bring me some of my most precious moments as they love me unconditionaly, no matter what, so I guess I will stay a child forever.

I am from Australia and know nothing about American racing. When I first heard the news about Barbaro breaking his leg in the Preakness, I did some research on the internet. Since then I've become very attached to this horse. I can relate to how Americans feel, because I know how I feel when our champions break down. RIP Barbaros, we love you, you are an inspiration to all of us, Australians included.

In the past two day I've cried, probably too much for a horse that I never had a personal experience with. I lost a horse of my own to founder, after we had rehab'ed him for many, many months. So I think this is my personal connection, since I do believe that founder and laminitis is kind of related in a round about way. But anyone who has cried over this horse, don't be ashamed, me and my mother cried together on the phone for about a 1/2 hour, me almost hyper-ventilating... ya.. anyways just know everyone who really was rooting for this horse, did probably indeed shed a few tears. I have a candle burning by my Breyer model and my Ty beanie baby of him..

I am. I would like to believe that they really wanted him to make it, and that they tried everything. I don't want to think of them finally saying well, he isn't going to make us any money at this point. I just don't know enough to judge that.

But I am very sad. I have mixed feelings about the whole horse racing business. I know they love to run. I've read and watched the stories and movies about Sea Biscuit. That was a gut wrencher.

At least Barbaro is at peace now.

Oh my gosh I bawled when I saw the report!! I, along with so many others just wanted so badly for him to overcome the odds and live a happy life. And I read he was doing so well recently that the doctors were talking of sending him home...then this. It just breaks my heart :(

I do. He was very brave to go through all that pain, I'm amazed he hung on for so long. I nearly cried. What a horse. I don't think I could have done that.

They should have never raced him in the first place...it would have saved him a lot of pain and not cost him his life. horse racing is a cruel buisness to get into.
