Why not try a free linux operating system first. You will also get all the software you will ever need FREE!!!!! My favourite distribution is UBUNTU - you can download it at ubuntu.com. My wife will not use any other OS.

vista is a good looking os i had it installed for a couple of weeks but looks are not everything it security consiuos if you try to delete a file or program or install somthing new you get swarmed in security warnings but you can turns these off but it still doesnt make it anybetter ,some programs dont work on vista, and it takes a lot more memory and prosseser power if you got dual core technoligy you be ok but if not dont get vista unless you got 1GB of ram and at least a 2.0Ghz prosseser this is so you com doesnt slow to a hault on you when you run 1 or 2 programs at the same time windows me ist that good either /ive been told windows 95 is the best but ive never use ,i recomed you got to xp sp2 home or pro

ME in my opinion is the worst of the windows ever.It freezes up all the time.I use xp now but really liked windows 95 the most.
