They can commit crimes and not have to deal with it. When they are given a court date they just don't show up because there is no record they were ever here. Or they can order somethign and not pay the same way. They get free health care that way also.

Do you have a clue how hard it is for them to do that? Do you not think the biggest majority of them would want to do it in a legal way so they would not have to fear deportation or survival to get here? Do you think they want to leave family and maybe never be able to see them again? If it were that easy to get here the legal way, then we wouldn't see so many illegals. We as Americans need to understand that side also. If the governments could work better together then they might could find a solution. Ask yourself would you stay and not be able to provide okay for yourself or try to have a decent lifestyle. We none can say what we would do unless we have been in that situation. And another thing Mexicans are not the only illegals here, remember that when you are being racist.

That's a very good question, but it seems most before me have answered it correctly. It's much more difficult (and expensive) to come here through legal channels than it is to just sneak in. Our system is set up to reward illegals and punish those who try to do it the right way. The overwhelming number of illegal immigrants has made it much harder for people to come in legally, because the number of newcomers we welcome depends on society's needs at the time. If unemployment is high and the population too dense, then more applications are summarily rejected.

Also, as some have pointed out, one must have certain skills to offer before they can be accepted. Criminals, deadbeat dads, the illiterate, the old, the very sick, and other such undesirables are rarely, if ever, granted citizenship. Therefore, they find that the only way to get here is to do so illegally.

1st Mexicans arent the only illegal immigrants and I am not Mexican I just dont like stereotyping or generalizing.

2nd This is an expensive process and lots of immigrants just dont have the money. And it is a long process with no guarantees.

3rd If they came here illegally they generally cannot go through the process of legalizing their immigration.

4th Beginning the process makes the USCIS aware of their location and they are now on the radar.

These are just a few reasons why they dont.
Its nice of you to think that it was so simple but it is not.

To become a LEGAL Landed Pemanet Resident here in the USA it costs approx. $1,200 ( US ) plus all the forms and medical and the condtions you must meet.
Think about it for a minute most Mexicans come here because they want to provide for the famalies and want to have a good standard of living. Most are not fluent in English and as such - you will have a hard getting in. Secondly, most do NOT have the financial means to pay these basic fees nor the FAMILY SUPPORT already here in the USA to sponsor them. The price I quoted is with someone marrying someone from the USA and who is sponsoring their husband / wife to move to the USA. But there are so many details to go into.
1. Lack of money
2. Language ( lack of knowledge of English )
3. Lack of Family Support

Because by law they can not sign those papers unless they came here legally in the first place. They would have to return to their country of origin (and not ALL illegals are Mexican) apply for sponsorship, go through all of that paperwork and get a green card. Also, IF they were here legally their employers would have to pay them a decent wage and report those wages to the IRS...which THEY don't want to do.

Its a lengthly process, and they don't want to wait. So, they elect to do it illegally. I agree its the wrong way, but they feel if the do it in mass numbers they will get away with it. Kind of like what Bush wants to do now. Soon we will have more laws protecting the illegals in this country, than we have laws protecting the citizens of this country. Its just a messed up situation!

First you must demonstrate “an understanding of the English language, including an ability to read, write, and speak...simple words and phrases...in ordinary usage in the English language....”. Second, you must be able to demonstrate “a knowledge and understanding of the fundamentals of the history, and of the principles and form of government, of the United States....”

They'd rather take the easy way out! Citizens have to pay taxes and actually have to contribute to American society, unlike those damn lazy free-loading mexicans!

The rediculous immigration policies in the US make it near to impossible for most people to become citizens even through marriage (where only well-to-do people can sponsor a spouse). There is more money to be made on illegals if they remain illegal.

If it was as easy as "signing a paper" don't you think most would have done it already? It takes time (sometimes years), money (application fees that can be well over $1000) and patience.
