Isn't religion rather time and money consuming?

There's this girl in my class and since she's Muslim, she can't swim at the public pool (the lifeguard is a man).

My friend spends every sunday going to church and she always gets bored to tears.

Christmas has become a rather commercial holiday. Do you really have to spend a lot on your family and friends just to show you love them?

Well consider the fact that now anything can be called "Religion." And Religion can be abused just like everything else. Besides you should know who's in it for the money. There's a lot of "Preachers and Teachers" who, well lie to you for your own dollar. And as far as family, just showing support or even remedial things for them shows love. Yes? It doesn't always have to be on a grand scale.

Hon all faiths are. I spend a great deal of money on my books and items. I read them and I come on here and read and answer questions.
No I don't send money to the 700 club because they are all about send us money and we will pray for you and send you a bumper sticker.
But I have see a few questions that made me stop and read what they whole thing was and not just the part that picked to share.
As we know we often only get one line when the next one says something completely different.
So its not just them

God is in your heart, not in a building. Church is a building people go to to worship together. Our body is the Lord's temple. We can stay home and worship if you wanted too. God our Father and Jesus Christ our Savior his son. I tithe becasue it is the right thing to do. It will go to help others. Your friend is going to church for the wrong reasons. And as for Christmas, it is what you make of it. I teach my kids of the Lord's birth and the reason we give presents. I teach my children to give back and not the commercialism of the holiday.

I don't practice a religion. I have a relationship with God. I go to church intending to worship God, not just get something out of it for myself. I live my life in a way that I hope will honor Him. I tithe so that God's work might be done. I'm sure that the money will be put to better use that way that if I was to waste it on a soda. I trust that God will use the time and money I have invested in Him to do His work.

Depends on the religion, I suppose. I'm Wiccan and we have only one rule ("Do no harm") and we don't have to give money to anyone.

But, yeah, some of them seem pretty onerous.
