USMC!
WHY? ASK ANY MARINE.

It depends on what you want to do. If you want money for school, etc. the Army has the biggest budget for bonuses.

With the Marines, Navy and I believe the Air Force also, you can't guarantee your job choice whereas the Army you are locked in by contract to get that job training initially. If the Army's needs change though you may be compulsed into a different job.

The Air Force generally has shorter, but more frequent deployments for missions. Most Army deployments are at least a year ranging upwards of 18 months. I think that the Marines do the shorter more frequent deployments as well.

If you want to go full out physical, Marines or Army without question. I lean toward the Army in this regard because it has a wider assortment of options available (Air Assault, Airborne, Rangers, etc., etc.).

From a disciplinary standpoint, I would again lean toward the Army or Marines, I have always been impressed with the Marines. There are many things that a Marine NCO can utilize to discipline troops that the Army is no longer allowed to and I think that shows in the loosening of discipline that the Army is seeing.

If you can't handle getting dirty/sweaty, don't go anywhere near the Army or Marines. And pretty much any of the enlisted corps for that matter. If you get claustrophobic, stay away from the Navy.

I've got nothing on the Coast Guard except just remember it can involve patrolling for drug runners...

Ultimately, like I said, it comes down to what you want. But don't take any verbal assurances for anything, always, always, always read what you are signing. Talk to people who are currently in the branch you are interested in who don't have a stake in recruiting you.

MARINE CORPS!

Best uniforms, better people.

"There are only two kinds of people that understand Marines: Marines and the enemy. Everyone else has a second-hand opinion." Gen. William Thornson, U.S. Army

"Why in hell can't the Army do it if the Marines can. They are the same kind of men; why can't they be like Marines."
Gen. John J. "Black Jack" Pershing, USA; 12 February 1918

"I have just returned from visiting the Marines at the front, and there is not a finer fighting organization in the world!"
General of the Armies Douglas MacArthur; Korea, 21 September 1950

"We have two companies of Marines running rampant all over the northern half of this island, and three Army regiments pinned down in the southwestern corner, doing nothing. What the hell is going on?" Gen. John W. Vessey Jr., USA, Chairman of the the Joint Chiefs of Staff during the assault on Grenada, 1983

"The Marines I have seen around the world have the cleanest bodies, the filthiest minds, the highest morale, and the lowest morals of any group of animals I have ever seen. Thank God for the United States Marine Corps!" Eleanor Roosevelt, First Lady of the United States, 1945

Depends what you mean by the best. I would vote for the Air Force.

In terms of which is the best service to join? The AF offers the highest quality of living, least deployments, best educational opportunities, and most choice assignments.

In terms of who kicks butt? The US Air Force has completely dominated their terrain (air and space) in every modern conflict, including the current Iraq war...within hours. Can any other service claim that? I think not.

When is the last time a US ground force took casualties from an enemy air attack? Maybe a couple odd in Vietnam, but for the most part...not since WWII!! 60 years of complete and total domination.

Best at what? For what?

I'm going into Air Force ROTC, but that's because I want to pursue a specific career found in the Air Force.

Marines are tough. Navy is... gay? Air Force is smart. Army is a mix.

Marines get the tough, jarhead image, plus they get to be the first on the ground. Navy rules the seas with its aircraft carriers, cruisers and subs, plus they can use those ships to bombard, drop bombs on, and shoot missiles at ground forces. Air Force can just fly over everybody else and drop huge bombs on them. Army gets to do the Hollywood charge, or the desperate last stand in a fort or on a hill.

Finally, they all have sweet special forces (which I'm not going to bother to list here). So, it's your pick.

I can tell you which is the best if you are capture who was the most healthy from doing POW rescues from Nam.
The Navy seals and the Airforce then the Green Berets.
The seals could slip into the water and grab a duck or a turtle from time to time and the Airforce could barter his way on showing the enmey where he had drop listening device and other intelligence then the Green Berets could snare a monkey or something to eat off the land.

From personal experience...The Marines are the best...they have the best training, the best standards and they just look sharp in everything they do...not only are they great at fighting, but you know you can depend on a Marine...they're a special brotherhood, and once in that brotherhood...you're set....

Marines always finish what they start and do not stop until their Mission is complete...

The Army is the best branch of service. The other branches can be dispensed with but not the Army.

U.S. Air Force. I have a personal bias. My Dad was in the Air Force and I was raised on Air Force bases around the world.

USCG - Save lives, protects America on mostly American shores, known universally as heroes, lower chance of going to war, protects US ports, first line of defense against an enemy attack near coastline, and even protects the environment. Sounds good doesn't it?

I have always been a fan of the Air Force. They just never stop coming up with these planes.
