Lemon juice and vinegar work well (separate methods, don't use together) -- cut lemon in half and rub directly on dry hair, water the vinegar down 1:2 and apply to dry hair, the amount of time to leave depends on how strong of highlights you want. 30 min to an hour is a good starting time. There are also products on the market (Citrisun and copy cats) that put natural citrus juices in their shampoo, conditioner, etc. These are natural, no bleaches or dyes and sell at Wal Mart and grocery stores at a reasonable price. You can use Citrisun products everyday, or you could use them until your highlights appear and then use once a week to maintain the highlights between your favorite shampoo/ conditioner.

After you wash your hair you should rinse it with lemon juice. Get a bottle of reconstituted lemon juice at the market and all you have to do is pour it on and rinse. After that you need to dry it well and you'll see good results. In the summer months you can let it dry in the sun for a better effect. Good Luck!

My girls' hair looked so awesome when they would put in a ponytail and get a lot of sun. When they would wash and wear down, so beautiful. If you put stuff in your hair like sun-in, it can give you a line when the hair grows out.

it depends on your hair color. i have light hair, so I use a belnd of rosemary, chamomile, and water that really brings out the highlights (and lowlights)
