Let's talk about Bangkok first.

From the airport to your hotel:
Express Bus: 150 Baht, see below for the routes.
http://www.bangkokairportonline.com/node/55
Taxi: Depends on where you are staying 160 to 250 baht including tip

Around Bangkok:
Taxis: Can cost from 100 baht to 200 baht.
BTS Skytrain: 15 - 30 baht, you can also get a 120 baht single day pass, unlimited usage all day.
http://www.bts.co.th/en/index.asp

MRTA subway: 13-40 baht, I usually buy a 200 baht stored value card and reload it as I use it and it's good for a year or two.
http://www.bangkokmetro.co.th/en/services/service_route_rate.asp?intContentType=14

Hotels: Check www.asiarooms.com for some of the best rates.

Hotspots: Soi Cowboy, Sukhumvit Soi 23, (Go-Go bars)
Nana Plaza, Sukhumvit Soi 3 (Go-Go bars)
Patpong Plaza (Go-Go Bars)
RCA (Discos)
Sukhumvit Soi 33 (Discos and bars) Many foreigners or farangs hang out here.
Ratchadapisek Road and Phetchaburi Road-massage parlors.
see www.bangkoktonight.com for details.
see www.bangkokbargirls.info for other information

You should walk down Soi Cowboy to see what it is all about as far as Go-Go bars.
Q-Bar on Soi 11 is a nice disco/bar
I have gone to Subway, Nataree and Caesars Entertainment for massages.

Shopping Centers: Bangkok
MBK Center in Pratunam, across the street is Siam Centers
I like the MBK center, 8 stories and a variety of shops and stalls. The Siam Centers, Paragon, Discovery etc. are very high end.
A block or so to the left of the front of MBK is pratunam or watergate that is the volume garment district.
see www.bangkok.com for more info.

Activities:
At least see the Grand Palace, takes about an hour or more to see everything there. Make sure you wear long pants.
Maybe take the river cruise. Get a map of Bangkok and try to group 2 or 3 things close to each other. The problem is most are only accessible by taxi or a loooong walk.

Nightlife: See hotspots. Take a walk from Nana, Soi 3 to Asoke Road. And you will get an idea of what it is like.

Pattaya:
Take a taxi or hire a car. Taxi will be 1000 to 2000 baht each way. If you hire a car from your hotel it will be 3000 baht each way or more.

You can take a bus for 90-100 from either the Northern Station or Eastern Station in Bangkok. From here, if you return by bus, then you can take the Airport Express to Suvarnabhumi airport.

Hotspots and Nightlife: See the Walking Street at the south end of the beach area.

Shopping: see www.a2zpattaya.com

Activities; See the walking street, it's wild, Beer bars, go-go bars, etc. Also, during the day, there is snorkeling, a short boat ride to Koh Lan, windsurfing, etc.. Any water sport you can think of.

There are a couple other sites I recommend reading on.

www.thailandguru.com - pretty accurate and current info about life in thailand

www.thaiwebsites.com - very current on Thai related websites.

I will be there April 15-22, any questions, email me. I go 3-5 times a year.

Good luck.

1. Take a taxi or the skytrain to the Ekkamai bus station and catch a bus to Pattaya from there. A bus from Bangkok to Ban Phe (to get to Ko Samet), one -way ticket was 157 baht. I'm telling you this so you have an idea of how much your ticket will cost, since Pattaya is near Rayong (where Ban Phe pier is). The station will have a ticket counter dedicated solely to selling tickets to Pattaya, just read the signs above each counter to find the right one. The bus I took was very comfortable, air-conditioned, clean, with a bathroom, and they provided a free bottle of water (our bus ride was about 3 1/2 hours).

...sorry, I can't answer any of your other questions...

The course offers a unique location in this relatively tourist free part of Thailand. So, what could be better! Meeting your Thai lady in our special part of Thailand and enjoying the tranquil surrounds of Ubolrat. Combine that with a leisurely round of golf!! We extend to you an invitation to experience the Kingdom of Thailand but also to see what a treasure trove of culture abounds within this special area! www.bestthaigolf.com
